Skin or thing?
A CS2 skin next to something from real life. Pick the one that costs more. You have three lives, and every three right in a row wins one back.
CS2 price game
Can you tell a CS2 skin from a real-life price?
Skin or Thing puts a CS2 skin next to something you could buy in real life and hides both prices. You pick the one that costs more. Some rounds are easy, until a four-dollar pistol skin turns up against a coffee in Oslo, or a knife against a used Toyota.
How to play
- 1
Two cards, prices hidden
Every round deals a CS2 skin and something from real life: a watch, a sandwich in Tokyo, a car in 1925.
- 2
Pick the pricier one
Click or tap the card you think costs more, or use the left and right arrow keys.
- 3
Build a streak
Each right pick in a row adds x0.25 to your points, up to x5. The pairs also get closer in price.
- 4
Three lives
A miss costs a life and resets the streak. Three right picks in a row win a life back.
Questions
Every skin in the game has its own SkinWeb page with the price on each market and its price history. When the run is over, try the other CS2 games.
Where do the CS2 skin prices come from?
Each skin shows its lowest current listing across the eleven markets SkinWeb tracks, including Steam and CSFloat. Prices refresh every few minutes, so the same skin can cost a little more or less tomorrow.
Where do the real-life prices come from?
Each thing is priced for exactly what its card describes. Without a place or a year on the card it is a typical US price today. A city means the local price converted to US dollars, and a year means what it cost then, without adjusting for inflation. The reveal names the source for every price.
How is the score worked out?
A right pick is worth 100 points times your streak multiplier. The multiplier starts at x1 and rises by 0.25 with every right pick in a row, up to x5, so a long streak scores far more than the same number of scattered right answers.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Anyone can play for free in the browser. Sign in with Steam to put your score on the weekly and all-time leaderboards; a run you finish as a guest can still be claimed when you sign in straight after it.
How many real-world things are there?
367, from fast food and concert tickets to houses, art sales, spacecraft and historical prices going back to the 1800s. Skins come from the whole CS2 catalogue, from cheap Mil-Spec rifles to knives and gloves.
Is a CS2 skin ever worth more than a car?
Yes. Rare knives, gloves and old stickers sell for more than most new cars, and a few of the most expensive skins have traded for more than a house. Plenty of rounds go the other way, which is what makes the game hard.
